My Father’s War Stories: Tales and Tunes from the Greatest Generation

Special Veterans Week Performance – Sunday, November 8

Performed by Joan Freed, Piano Accompaniment by Tracy Ross

Join us for a special way to celebrate Veterans with a live performance of “My Father’s War Stories: Tales and Tunes from the Greatest Generation” on the Lakewood Theatre mainstage. This show premiered here last year and sold out, so we’re bringing it back by popular demand!

Actress and singer Joan Freed shares this engaging collection of stories and songs chronicling one soldier’s extraordinary experiences in the US Army during World War II while stationed in North Africa, Italy, and Japan. With stories ranging from humorous to poignant, Joan shares anecdotes from the Greatest Generation that are entertaining and enlightening.

Joan is an award-winning musical theater actress known for her one-woman musical comedies, which have played to audiences across the country. She is excited to share the remarkable stories of her father, who served as First Lieutenant in the Army’s Signal Battalion. Presented with 1940’s era music, this show recalls the hardships and heroism of World War II.

Wine and dessert reception begins at 6:45 pm
Performance begins at 7:30 pm
Tickets: $40, reserved seating

The Lakewood Center is Joan’s home away from home, and she’s appeared in over a dozen productions here. She is also here for dance aerobics, board meetings, volunteering with the Associates, and more. She sends love to her family for their wonderful support.
