Art in the Park Judge: NANCY SMITH KLOS

Nancy Klos has made her home in Portland, Oregon since 1985. Here she established Klos Studios in 1990. Although she has lived in many parts of the country she considers the PNW her real home. Here in her studio “Atelier NAN” she creates drawings, paintings, mixed media, Sumi.e ink paintings & numerous commissions for a national clientele.

Nancy has offered workshops throughout the Northwest: Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Northern California. In Fall 2018, Ms. Klos was invited to teach at The Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento, Ca.

In the years 2014-2016 Nancy was the Artist-In-Residence at The Lan Su Chinese Garden in Portland, Or. Her work from this time appeared in both Plein Air Magazine & Outdoor Painter in articles written by New York Arts writer Bob Bahr.

In Fall of these three years she also lived and worked at the Hawk Creek Gallery in Neskowin, Or. as the Resident Artist for 4-6 weeks at a time. There she produced a body of work as her response to the ocean along the Oregon Coastline.

Ms. Klos has been a Guest Instructor at The Portland Art Museum, Portland State Masters in Education Program, Sitka Center of Art and Ecology, Menucha Creative Arts Community, Coupeville Arts Guild on Whidbey Island, The University of Idaho Convergence Conference.

Her artwork and process has been filmed for Oregon ArtBeat, HGTV’s Modern Masters and she served on a panel for Oregon Considered-“State of the Arts in Oregon.”(Eve Epstein of OPB radio). In August 2017 her oil painting “Peppers” was featured in the special section for Women Artists of the Pacific NW-an annual feature in SW ARTS Magazine!
