2016 FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS
Below is a listing of volunteer opportunities with our upcoming Festival of the Arts. These are short term jobs but extremely vital to making the Festival a success. Won’t you join us? Please contact the supervisor of each request for further information. This is a great way to meet new people and support the arts!
Booth sitter: June 24, 25 & 26, various times
(Contact Audre Bratcher – 503 709 4434 or audrebratcher@yahoo.com)
You will be stationed at Art in the Park, helping the artists by watching their booths while they take short breaks. If you enjoy meeting a variety of artists, chatting with visitors about artwork, and you’d like to get an up close look at art and how artists run the business side of things, Booth Sitting is a great match for you!
Hospitality: June 24, 25 & 26, various times
(Contact Liz Adams – 503 701 6295 or elizadams7@hotmail.com)
Volunteers work in small groups at the Lakewood Center and George Rogers Park to welcome attendees, solicit for donations, and provide helpful information. Can you smile, be friendly and ask people to support the arts? This job is for you! If you want to be the face of the Festival, sign up for a two or three hour shift on this team.
Patron Preview Party Servers: June 23, 4:30pm – 8:30pm
(Contact Bonnie Cartwright – 503 523 7899 or larbon@comcast.net)
Arrive at 4:30 on Thursday, June 23rd at Lakewood Center for the Arts to serve at the downstairs wine reception and then move upstairs to the deck for more serving of wine and appetizers. Some lifting and transporting of wine. Fun to be a part of opening night at the Festival ahead of the general public! You get to see the sponsors and dignitaries at this gala preview!
Show Cards: June 22, 6pm – 9pm
(Contact Susan Bitzer – 503 730 1787 or susan@lakewood-center.org)
Place show cards (displays artist, title, medium and price) by each piece of art in the Umpqua Investments Pavilion Tent which showcases the Open Show. You will work in teams of two (fun to bring along a friend). Get to see the artwork before the Festival opens! Wear comfortable shoes and bring a water bottle and snack if you like. A fabulous opportunity to see how an exhibit is put together!
Survey: June 24-26, 2 hour shifts
(Contact Sue Smith -503-951-7601 or aliblab@msn.com)
Survey involves approaching visitors and politely asking for feedback (where they’re from, if they used shuttle, what attracted them), placing color dots on big survey sheets – question panels… It’s fun!
Shifts available are approx. 2 hours: Friday 11am and 5pm / Saturday 11am, 2pm and 5pm / Sunday 11am and 2pm. Meet on the deck at the Lakewood Center for detailed instructions. After 25 responses (or 1 hour), move to George Rogers Park and do the same thing. Return completed sheets to Lakewood Center. I hope you will join us! Call or email with any questions!
