Opening Night: Art Decked Out — June 2
Featuring a Free Screening of Bill Plympton’s “Guard Dog”

Join us for Art Decked Out, Lakewood’s signature first-Monday event—an evening of art and the West Coast premiere of our Bill Plympton exhibit, celebrating the legendary animator’s wild and wonderful career.

Location: Lakewood Center, Headlee Theatre
Date: Monday, June 2
Time: 6-8PM

Don’t miss the free screening of Plympton’s cult classic short “Guard Dog,” and your first look at 20 original drawings and animation cels pulled straight from his New York studio.

Opening night guests get first dibs on purchasing framed originals from Plympton’s greatest hits—Guard Dog, Slide, How to Kiss, and more—as well as rare, never-before-seen storyboards from an unaired Simpsons couch gag.

Bill Plympton, an Oregon City native turned animation icon, has spent decades hand-drawing every frame of his films and carving out a fiercely independent career. This exhibit offers an up-close look at his artistic process through original artwork and behind-the-scenes videos that dive into his tools, style, and storytelling approach.

Free and open to all. Art lovers, collectors, and animation fans—this is your night.

Seating is limited! RSVP to hold your spot!
