RISING ARTIST WORKSHOP (RAW) SHOWCASE PERFORMANCE, MONDAY MARCH 16 AT 7:00 PM

RAW-spring-2015.jpeg Lakewood Theatre Company’s Rising Artist Workshop will present a very special showcase performance Monday, March 16 at 7:00 pm on the Headlee Mainstage at Lakewood Center for the Arts in Lake Oswego. The showcase features 8 students who were selected to work with Sony recording artist, Andrew Paul Woodworth.

The performance is the culmination of an 8-week workshop for a talented core of young singers, ages 12 – 16, from West Linn, Lake Oswego, Riverdale, and OES High Schools. Students will perform with a live band of professional musicians. Woodworth began offering this program just over a year ago and many of his students are beginning to earn critical recognition. Chloe Voeller, a 15-year old Lake Oswego High School student and performer in the showcase, recently was the winner of the 2014 Portland Teen Idol competition. She will be joined by Mira Collins, Graeson Fish, Hudson Hale, Nicole O’Brien, Olivia Phillips, Ellery Ross, and Jackson Schelonka.

Lakewood’s RAW workshop focuses on songs that have personal significance for each student performer. Woodworth then guides the development of each student’s technical and performance ability. Songs for this performance were either written or made famous by Pink Floyd, Citizen Cope and The Animals among others.

Andrew Paul Woodworth spent 22 years in Los Angeles appearing in several motion pictures and television shows as an actor. He also traveled the world as a professional musician, sharing the stage with Maroon Five, Sheryl Crow, Sara Bareilles, and Deep Purple. Legendary bassist John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin, produced Woodworth’s first album with the band Elephant Ride.

The RAW showcase performance is free of charge, but donations are accepted to support the Rising Artist programs at Lakewood Theatre Company.
