A FILM SCREENING AND TWO ONE-WEEK WORKSHOPS WITH JOHN STRASBERG, INTERNATIONALLY KNOWN DIRECTOR/ACTOR/TEACHER

John Strasberg, internationally known Director/Actor/Teacher comes to Lakewood Theatre Company for two one-week intensive acting workshops, Jan. 11-17 and Jan. 17-22, 2015. Students may take one or both workshops. Mr. Strasberg will also speak Sat. Jan. 10, 12:30 -3:00 PM at a special screening of the film, John Strasberg: Accidentally On Purpose. The film is a multi-award-winning documentary based on his book.
The talk and screening are free to workshop participants and open to the general public for a $15 admission fee. Tickets for the screening are available at Lakewood’s box office (503-635-3901) or online.
About John Strasberg:
Internationally known Director/Actor/Teacher John Strasberg is the son of Lee and Paula Strasberg of the Actors Studio, and brother of actress Susan Strasberg. Over his long career, Strasberg has directed productions of Shakespeare, Ibsen, O’Neill, Odets and Aristophanes. He brings his acclaimed Intensive Acting Workshop to the Portland area for the very first time. Mr. Strasberg’s Organic Creative Process and Technique picks up where The Method and other systems, created by great teachers, such as his father Lee Strasberg; Stella Adler and Sanford Meisner, left off.
About the Workshops:
Lakewood will be offering two one-week workshops with Mr. Strasberg (Jan. 11-17 and/or Jan. 17-22). Each participant will receive free admission to the screening of Mr. Strasberg’s film on January 10. Participants may take one or both workshops. In Mr. Strasberg’s Organic Creative process actors are guided to live spontaneously within the context of a character and play, learning to consciously create an intuitive state of inspiration, in the same way that musicians, dancers, singers, and other artists work. This conscious intuitive process goes beyond the work currently taught in the realistic school. As part of this process, in developing your talent and your sense of truth, you learn to recognize the difference between being natural and being real.
