THE IMAGINATION MENAGERIE

This call is open to artists of all levels, who are students in grades K-8. If you will be in 9th grade at the time of the Festival in 2024, you are still eligible. 

The guardian will need to submit an email with the student’s work so we can contact them if their child’s work is chosen.

An original drawing or painting of an imaginary creature. This could be a commonly known animal, such as a unicorn, or a completely unique animal.

Two-dimensional work in any medium is acceptable as long as it fits on an 8x14 (legal) size page ​​or is digitally sized to those dimensions.

No words, except the student’s first name, should be on the submission.

Three-dimensional pieces are not eligible for this call.

No AI generated work will be accepted. 

All work must be created by the student alone.

ENTRIES

A maximum of 2 works may be submitted per artist. Entries must be received no later than the date listed on the calendar. We reserve the right to decline any accepted artwork upon delivery if the condition or quality is other than represented in the electronic entry.

JURY PROCESS

Applications will be reviewed by a jury composed of selected artists from varied backgrounds who embrace the philosophy and goals of the Festival of the Arts. Artists will choose the pieces to replicate. Not all submissions will be chosen, but we will have all submissions on display in a digital format during the 2024 Festival.

Artists must register and complete an application on our website with an
accurate email that will be valid throughout the registration process until show date. This email address will be used to notify you of your status.

Artists may submit 1 static image per art object, up to 2 artworks in total.

Static image sizing requirements: Images must be in JPEG or JPG format, maximum of 4000x4000 pixels, minimum of 1000 pixels on the shortest side.

We require the work be sized to 8.5x14 (legal page size).

Please submit clear, full color scans only.

No words should appear on the picture except the student’s name, signed in the lower right corner. The student’s last name will not be displayed.

Guardian contact information.

Not required, but feel free to share: Name of the imaginary animal.

DELIVERY OF ARTWORK

All artwork must be submitted digitally or dropped off at Lakewood Center, 368 S State Street, Lake Oswego, OR, 97034 by the deadline. 

RETURN OF ARTWORK

Submitted artwork will not be returned.

Work not selected will be on a digital display during the Festival.

Your entry to the exhibit constitutes a grant from you to Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts of a free perpetual non-exclusive license authorizing your design to be displayed by Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts or by third parties with Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts’s permission, to be used on the Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts website, and to be used in Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts advertisements and other Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts promotional materials. All entries must be free of claims and rights of third parties. Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts reserves the right to make minor modifications to art and context.
