Festival Volunteer Information

The following volunteers report to the Volunteer Room at Lakewood Center, 368 S State St.

• ALL Docents, even Open Show Express docents.

• Lakewood Info Desk

• Lakewood Greeters (We sometimes call these volunteers Hospitality) 

The following volunteers report to the Open Show Express tent (the big white tent in Lakewood's Parking lot)

• Open Show Express Sales Desk

The Following Volunteers report to the shuttle stop on Middlecrest at Lakewood Center:

• LWC Parking Monitors

Also at Lakewood:

• Sales Desk reports to the Sales Desk at the Dee Denton Gallery

The Following Volunteers report to the MAIN ENTRANCE (walk down the stairs on LADD St.) at George Rogers Park:

• George Rogers Park Greeters (We sometimes call these volunteers Hospitality)

We've scheduled you to include your orientation. Please be on time!

Allow for additional time (as much as 30 minutes) for parking and/or shuttle.

Please note that the shuttle drivers have no control over trains and area traffic. They are truly doing their best to get you there in time! If your shift is at a very busy time- Fridays at rush hour for instance- give yourself extra time. 

Comfortable shoes!
Please dress appropriately to interact with the public. Corporate volunteers and organizations (Like NCL) are encouraged to wear their company’s logos.

PARKING IS VERY LIMITED.

Volunteers have a special shuttle at Hallinan Elementary; however, you can park near any shuttle stop that is convenient for you. We recommend Lakeridge HS as your backup parking location.

Refer to the shuttle map for  routes.

The Hallinan shuttle hours:
Fri/Sat- 8am-10pm
Sun: 8am-6pm

If you're volunteering before or after the Festival, you can park at Lakewood or George Rogers.

A 48 hour notice is required prior to your shift so we can find a replacement. Call or text your Festival Contact.

A refillable water bottle (if you don't have one, we do have cups available).

Your best self.  The Festival is successful because all our staff and volunteers work to foster a positive and rewarding experience for everyone. We aim to respect and adhere to exhibit/festival policies for the sake of creating a supportive and positive environment for all festival participants. We care about your well-being and ask all of you to bring care, compassion, and empathy to this weekend event, and elevate your perspective. 

If you encounter anyone exhibiting aggressive or harmful behavior, including racist, sexist, or anti LGBTQ+ sentiments, please contact your supervisor or find the nearest police person. Do not engage.
