COVID-19 Update

Updated March 10, 2022

Beginning March 12, 2022, the state of Oregon will now allow patrons to attend indoor events at performing arts facilities without masks.

For our production of Leading Ladies from March 12 – April 10, 2022, we will continue to require proof of vaccination. Although masking is not required, we do encourage patrons to continue using masks for their safety and for others who may have weak immune systems.

Drinks will again be allowed in the theatre if they are enclosed in our specialty cups or if contained in a water bottle.

VACCINATIONS REQUIRED
Guests 12 years of age and older must provide proof of full vaccination in order to attend an in-person indoor performance through April 12, 2022.

Proof of vaccination must be presented by showing your vaccination card in physical form or as a photo on your phone. “Fully vaccinated” means the performance date you are attending must be:

  •      at least 14 days after your second dose of an FDA or WHO authorized two-dose COVID-19 vaccine, or
  •      at least 14 days after your single dose of an FDA or WHO authorized single dose COVID-19 vaccine.

CHILDREN UNDER 12 ATTENDING IN-PERSON SHOWS AND CLASSES
Unvaccinated children under 12 years of age may attend in-person shows and classes on a continuing basis as long as their parent or guardian is fully vaccinated. Depending on the class activity, masks are to be worn throughout the class at the discretion of the instructor. If the student exhibits any symptoms, we ask them to stay home and get tested for COVID-19 before returning to class.

AIR FILTRATION
Lakewood has installed a new UV-C air purification system to continuously sanitize the theatre and rooms at Lakewood, courtesy of Bill and Barbara Warner and Lynda O’Neill, John L. Scott Real Estate. In addition, all ventilation systems have been reviewed and filtration has been upgraded to MERV 13. The systems continue to be regularly cleaned and maintained.

CLEANING
Before each performance, high touch surfaces in both audience spaces and backstage will be cleaned in accordance with CDC recommendations.

BUY WITH CONFIDENCE!
Most of our shows have flexible ticket exchange and refund policies, some up to two hours before the performance. To stay up to date with our policies as they conform to changing health issues, follow Lakewood on Facebook and Twitter. We will work with you in whatever way for you to enjoy our programs.

By purchasing tickets and attending a show or class at Lakewood Center for the Arts, you agree to follow these guidelines and the full policy measures laid out above. Please note: all policies are subject to change at Lakewood’s sole discretion and without notice. We look forward to seeing you soon!

OUR GOAL IS TO KEEP EVERYONE SAFE – THANK YOU FOR COMPLYING!

April 2021:

At Lakewood, we are monitoring the COVID-19 situation closely and implementing our own measures to help keep the community safe – see our updates below. We understand that more cases in the US and our region should be expected.

We will also update our site at this news blog to alert you of any changes, rescheduling or cancellations.

LAKEWOOD BUILDING IS CLOSED UNTIL EXECUTIVE ORDER IS LIFTED

Our building is now closed to visitors and we are reducing our work hours. Guest programs cannot resume until Clackamas County enters Phase 2. Please note, some events are not sanctioned until we enter Phase 3. In the meantime, see our events page for socially distant outdoor activities which are permitted.

Some of our staff are telecommuting and with the expected volume of emails it may take us 3-5 business days to respond, but rest assured that we will get back to you. Our shows may be postponed or canceled for now, but our staff is here for you. See below for info on upcoming events. If your question is not answered please email us. Again, it may take us a few days for us to reply. We are working with reduced staff and have set up a remote box office.

We are following the Governor’s Executive Order and awaiting updates for the scheduling of future shows. See below for ticketing updates. THANK YOU for your kind support!

Please consider donating your tickets back to the theatre. As you can imagine, it is extremely difficult to cancel performances. Your support during this time of uncertainty allows organizations like ours to remain a vibrant part of our community.

To our 20-21 Lakewood Theatre Company Subscribers,

Thank you for your continued support. Even as we social distance, we are working through this with you and our incredible visual and performing artists.

Given the current state of Oregon’s health restrictions, we have made the decision to postpone our reopening of the Headlee Mainstage until late spring or early summer 2021. We plan to produce a 3-show season on a show-by-show basis. We’re listening closely to Governor Kate Brown’s guidelines and regulations as we plan our mainstage reopening, and we know you’re eager to join us for the inspiring theatre and art you have come to expect from Lakewood.

In the meantime, we hope you’ll join us for some of our exciting COVID-19 compliant events including intimate art shows, cabarets on the Lakewood lawn, and a special holiday review.

Current ticket holders and season subscribers:
Your tickets will be converted into vouchers. Each voucher is redeemable for admission to one event or show between now and December 31st, 2021. Added Bonus: Vouchers may now be used for admission to any events that require an admission fee. Vouchers and subscription information will be mailed out by November 15th.

Instead of receiving vouchers, you may choose to donate the value of your tickets. You will receive donation receipts in equal cost for tax purposes. We deeply appreciate every contribution and look forward to serving you in these difficult times and beyond. If you would prefer to donate your subscription tickets, please let us know by October 15th.

All shows, dates, and seating for our theatre season are subject to change – COVID-19 UPDATE

Lakewood Theatre Company will be following the state guidelines on safely reopening to the public. We appreciate your patience as we work through this together. We anticipate we will open early or mid-October but with limited seating. This is, of course, subject to the evolving rules and regulations. To best accommodate this unique situation, the first 2-3 attractions may be general seating not reserved seating. To provide socially distant seating with about half of our seating being used.

Murder on the Orient Express will be unassigned seating in order to utilize a modified social distancing seating chart. Elf may have to follow this protocol as well depending on what the requirements are at the given time. If you have questions, please email our office at tickets@lakewood-center.org.We are unable to do phone replies at this time.

Note: If you are concerned about attending we suggest you consider a FLEX TICKET package. This provides the best flexibility for you when we are able to stage our shows!

To our amazing audiences,

1. As many of you now know, our production of THE ODD COUPLE has been suspended. If gatherings are allowed in May or June we will try to resume performances. Safety is paramount for us so that decision may not happen for several weeks.

2. Our production of FUNNY GIRL has been canceled. We are extremely saddened by this!

3. Our Lost Treasures production of I CAN GET IT FOR YOU WHOLESALE is postponed until late May or June (when we get permission to perform).

4. Our annual FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS is adapting to the COVID-19 challenge by transitioning to online galleries and other low exposure options. CLICK HERE for more info.

What to do about your performance tickets?
We are reaching out to you our affected patrons with options to

  • view online an archive video of THE ODD COUPLE. Or if you prefer, view an online archive video of THE BUDDY HOLLY REVIEW performed by Lakewood in 2018.
  • For THE ODD COUPLE, reschedule for a later performance if we are able to perform (with NO exchange or upgrade fees)
  • For either show, donate your tickets to Lakewood (tax-deductible), or

3/27/2020

After a thorough evaluation and thoughtful deliberation, we have made the difficult decision to postpone THE ODD COUPLE, for the time being, and resume performances if we are given permission to gather again in late April or May. This, however, is a week by week decision.

We have also decided it is best to cancel the next production in our lineup, FUNNY GIRL. This decision pains us greatly as we have artists wanting to continue but they are unable to meet and rehearse. We hope we can stage that show in the future but that is an option for another time.
We will work, however, to raise the curtain on a new, boundary-pushing season in the summer and or fall.

We don’t know how to express our thanks for the undaunted dedication of our patrons, like you, who have helped us to focus on our mission and commit ourselves to what the future holds.

If you have tickets for any canceled performances, please consider donating their value, or even making an extra donation to ensure Lakewood is able to remain resilient. if you are donating your tickets please reply to the link listed. If you requesting something different please wait 5-7 days as we are now working with reduced staff and relocating to a remote box office. We hope you will consider a donation so we can remain viable.
