In Loving Memory of Dee Denton

March 13, 1926 – March 10, 2021
Dee Denton was the driving force behind many of Lake Oswego’s cherished events including Festival of the Arts, Christmas Tree Lighting, Leadership Lake Oswego, Village Flower Baskets as well as an ardent supporter of the arts and local business. For more than 33 years, she served as the Executive Director of the Lake Oswego Chamber of Commerce. Dee served for 47 years as a Lakewood Board member and was part of the team that created the Lakewood Center for the Arts. She was also a trailblazer as one of the first female members of Lake Oswego Rotary and Portland’s Royal Rosarians.

Announcing the Dee Denton Gallery
On June 25, 2021, the newly renovated Lakewood Center Entryway Gallery will be dedicated as the Dee Denton Gallery. The Denton family will hold a private dedication ceremony and introduce the first exhibit in the gallery: Dee’s personal art collection.
This collection will be open to the public
from June 26-July 9. Email tickets@lakewood-center.org to schedule a tour of the gallery.

If you’ve attended the Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts, you’ll recognize some of the artists represented in Dee’s collection. Her personal collection is diverse and reflects what art meant to her. You’ll find everything from a realistic landscape by Mas Kanatsu to the whimsical metal heart sculpture by Marta Farris.

Lessons from Dee

  • Don’t take yourself seriously (no one else does)
  • All that truly matters in the end is that you’re loved
  • The best is yet to come.

We love you, Dee.

A Gift to Lake Oswego
“Dee loved to laugh, and we’ll always cherish the memory of her being enthusiastically positive and joyful about life, work and most of all, family. We all owe a debt of gratitude to Dee for making Lake Oswego such a great place to live and work.”

– Andrew Edwards,
Lakewood Center for the Arts Executive Director
