2026 Small Works Show

Are you an artist who bridges centuries with your work? Do you blend historical technique with contemporary meaning? We want to see it.
The Lakewood Center for the Arts invites artists to submit work for our 4th Annual Small Works Show, an exhibition that celebrates the fusion of the past and present. This year’s theme, “Old School / New School,” explores the intersection of tradition and innovation, where classical form meets modern voice.
Works should be small in scale but big in concept. This show values craft, intention, and experimentation.
Art that uses historic, ancient, or classical techniques, motifs, or materials to express contemporary, futuristic, or socially relevant ideas. Whether it’s oil paint in the style of 17th-century Baroque drama reimagined with TikTok culture, embroidery that speaks to AI, or mosaics that memorialize present-day icons. We want to see how you rework the old to say something new.
