Classes For Youth

   **Ballet classes are cumulative, new students wishing to perform in our annual winter and spring performances, are required to enroll during the Fall and continue through Spring term. This allows dancers the opportunity to learn and practice ballet technique so that they are confident to perform in the Spring recital. Classes are pro rated if you begin after the first week of the session.**

**A minimum of 3 students(levels 1-4) and 5 students (PreBallet 1 & 2) per class must be enrolled in order for a class to run**

REGISTER HERE Beginner Ballet Classes:

 Level  l – minimum age 6.5 (Prerequisite: PreBallet ll)

Tuesdays:       4:30-5:30pm

Spring Term:  March 7 – May 30, 2023 

 No classes March 28 Spring Break)

Tuition: $182

This class is for the novice as well as a transition from PreBallet to a more formal ballet class.  The fundamentals of ballet and barre work are introduced as well as an emphasis on ballet class etiquette.   Focus is on posture, stretching for flexibility, muscle strength, technique and musicality in a disciplined yet encouraging environment. 

Dress code is required and hair should be secured back in a bun for class. No jewelry with the exception of stud earrings. Dress code: please refer to kwattsballet.com

Classes are cumulative from fall- spring terms, with the opportunity to perform at the end of Spring term. New students should begin during summer, fall or winter terms, new students will not be accepted during Spring terms.

One year of Pre-Ballet or formal ballet experience required 

REGISTER HERE Level ll- minimum age 7.5 (Prerequisite: Level l)

Wednesdays 4:00-5:00pm

Spring Term: March 8 – May 31, 2023

 No classes 3/29 (Spring Break)

This class is a continuation of the beginner level. Students will continue to build upon the knowledge and skills they developed in level l. Focus will continue on posture, stretching and flexibility, technique , and musicality. To enroll in this level, students must have completed one full year of Level l or be given permission from instructor after attending a placement class. 

Prerequisite skill: stand and work comfortably from fifth position feet and have completed 1 full year of Level l.

Thursdays: 4:45 – 5:45pm  Spring Term: March 9 – June 1, 2023 

No classes 3/28 (Spring Break) 

Tuition: $182

This is a formal ballet class for young students with ballet experience. Students participate in stretching, barre work and center floor work. They will further develop posture, muscle strength, flexibility, technique, and musicality in a disciplined yet encouraging environment. Dress code is required and hair should be secured back in a bun for class. No jewelry with the exception of stud earrings. Dress code: please refer to kwattsballet.com

Classes are cumulative from fall – spring term, new students will only be accepted during summer, fall or winter terms.

Ballet experience required.  Students must have completed levels l and ll or with approval by instructor after placement class.

Intermediate Ballet Classes:

Level lV is an intermediate level Ballet class for students with previous ballet training  At the intermediate level students further develop their ballet technique through stretching, barre work, and center floor work. Continued emphasis on posture, muscle strength, flexibility, technique, musicality, and self discipline in a supportive and encouraging environment. Students continue to work on turns, adagio, as well as petite & grand allegro (jumps) work. Pointe technique wi

Introduced/ continued  for students aged 10 and up, with approval of instructor. In order to participate in pointe, students are required to attend two technique classes per week. 

*Ballet lV-B (3xs/week) is for students who are dedicated to ballet and are given the opportunity to  attend an additional technique class with level V each week. *Must have approval by instructor*

Preparatory Ballet Classes:

Tuition: $124

This is a fun, creative introduction to basic ballet movement. Emphasis is on coordination, rhythm, music, and mime using props, rhymes, stories and imagination. Your child will be galloping on a pony, leaping over puddles, and learning movements to accompany their favorite preschool songs! Students will learn basic ballet skills and terminology in a supportive and encouraging environment. 

No experience necessary

REGISTER HERE PreBallet ll (Ages 5.5 – 7)

Thursdays: 4:00-4:45pm

Spring Term: March 9 – June 1, 2023

No classes: 3/30 (Spring Break)

This class transitions from the creative movement aspect of PreBallet l to an emphasis on the fundamentals of ballet.   Basic ballet skills, terminology, rhythm, and coordination are taught, practiced, and developed through music and use of props in a supportive and encouraging environment. 

Prerequisite Skills: PreBallet ll students must be able to Skip and be willing to participate independently without parent

Kids Create!

REGISTER HERE The Magic Tree Fort

April 8 -May 27 [At Lakewood]

Saturdays 2:00 – 5:00 PM • Ages 4 – 9 • $225 

Instructor: Liz Hayden 

While practicing through games, play, art, music, and dance, students will discover their inner creativity. Class will be held in the ballet studio which is designed for easy distance awareness. Students will conclude the Fall session with a performance/demo to be performed on the last day of class. Students will be having fun improvising, creating, and playing together each class day. 

Each day, campers will meet outside on the front deck to check-in. Once everyone arrives the class will go down to the studio together as a group, limiting hallway crowding. At the end of the day, this will be the same protocol. Remember to bring a snack and get ready to have a wonderful time.

From creatures to funny features, create and perform your own shows! Practice improvisation, audition skills, and more. Perform scenes using commercial, film, and television scripts (both comedy and drama). Gain confidence and view your improvements on screen. Instructor Sandra Peabody represents talent for film and television work in the Northwest and Los Angeles. 

Limited to 8 students. 

REGISTER HERE TV/FILM ACTING: COMEDY & DRAMA – IN PERSON

Ages 10 -16 8 weeks

Tuesdays Apr 4 – May 23 6:00 – 7:30 PM 

Enjoy being really truthfully funny, and dramatic like the greats! Practice, improvisation, scene presentations, and audition skills. Gain more confidence while stretching your acting muscles. Perform roles On-Camera, from your favorite shows, and learn how to deliver dramatic scenes with true feelings.  Instructor Sandra Peabody is an Emmy-award winning writer/producer/director.
